 The Black Russian Terrier (or also known as simply Black Terrier) is a Russian breed of dog developed originally as a guard/watch dog. It is rare to find outside its native country and is just starting to be recognized elsewhere. It is one of the AKC's most-recently recognized breeds, gaining full status in July of 2004.

Developed and bred in Russia after World War II, for military and police work.
 Becoming more popular in Europe.
